It’s a movie for people who read The New Yorker in the waiting lounge of their psychiatrist’s office.

Disney is going to be making Muppet movies for the remainder of American, or possibly human civilization. And as the cinematic march of the fuzzy marionettes continues, Muppets Most Wanted will continue to float, lukewarm, in the middle levels of the franchise’s history.

As compared to other high school reunion comedies, Veronica Mars lacks the self-satire or personal introspection that would enable it to function as a true interaction with the series’ past. It’s a TV movie rather than a movie, feeling more like an extended episode than an actual cinematic continuation.

If I wanted to see a bunch of drunken, drug-abusing, incestuous, adulterous, hypocrites shouting at each other while breaking crockery, I’d attend a family reunion.

The question is phrased as: is making great art a thing worth dying for? Clooney’s film goes further: is it worthwhile to risk the lives of young men for the sake of preserving great works of art?
